21st Century Flea Markets

Held at the Croatian Cultural Centre (3250 Commercial Drive @ 16th) in Vancouver, this flea market holds a little something for everyone. There are over 185 tables set up with a terrific array of items including vintage housewares, toys, furniture, tools, antiques, collectibles, jewellery, books, and so much more. Local appraiser Gale Pirie is also on site for all shows offering appraisals. Next flea market is scheduled for January 15, 2012. Admission is $4 and doors open from 10am to 3pm. Vancouver Flea Market

A landmark in Vancouver since the early 1900s, the long red building was converted 1983 into the Vancouver Flea Market (703 Terminal Ave.). Every weekend, throughout the year, you can find everything from old tools, fine china, steamer trunks, toys, vintage jewellery and accessories, to new everyday household items. Cloverdale Flea Market 604-856-1100

Located on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds (60 Avenue & 176 Street), this eclectic market is held every Sunday (except special events and holidays) from 6am to 4pm. With stalls both inside and out, you can find an array of both new and secondhand items, as well as plants and produce from local farms.

Twilight Drive Inn Swap Meet

This old fashioned car boot sale in Langley (260th Street & Fraser Highway) is a wonderful excuse to hit the road on a sunny Sunday. Located about 45 minutes outside of Vancouver, this sale is held from mid-April to Mid-October from 7am to 4pm, weather permitting.

Baby and Toddler Swap

Considered as one of the largest indoor kids garage sales, this swap meet with over 60 tables will feature toys, gear, clothing for babies and toddlers. Held in a variety of locations throughout the Lower Mainland this fall. Check their Web site for more information on dates and locations.

Fun Promotions: Computer Swap Meets and Collectible Sales

Fun Promotions offers both Collectible Shows and Computer Swap Meets throughout the year. There will be a joint Computer Swap Meet and Pop Culture Collectibles Fair on Saturday October 9th at the Scottish Cultural Centre (8886 Hudson Street) Vancouver, B.C. Hours 11am-4pm and Admission is $3.00. Table rentals cost $40.00. These sales occur on a regular basis. Vancouver Camera Show and Swap Meet – (604) 941-0300

Held at the Cameron Recreation Centre (9523 Cameron St.) in Burnaby, this show features antique, vintage, new, used, digital and optics, and everything else for photography.  Check their Web site for upcoming show dates.  General admission is $5.

The BC Snow Expo and the Winter Extreme Ski & Board Show & Swap

With a variety of shows scheduled, skiers & boarders will find a full assortment of places to go, equipment and apparel. The Canadian Ski Patrol’s Winter Extreme Ski & Board Swap is BC’s largest equipment swap and is clearly the best place in town to find deals on all of your equipment needs. Record Swap Meet

Held twice a year at the Croatian Cultural Centre (3250 Commercial Drive @ 16th) this swap meet is home to more than 80 tables of records, CD’s, and music memorabilia. Contact Neptoon Records in Vancouver, for more information (604) 324-1229.

32nd Edition of the “COASTAL SWAP MEET”

Western Canada’s Largest Indoor Automotive Swap Meet featuring 569 Indoor, 380 Outdoor and 77 Car Corral stalls, Concessions & Lounge. The Coastal Swap Meet is open to all Automotive Parts, Cars, Services and Supplies, Antiques and Collectibles. Check their Web site for upcoming show dates.

ANTIQUE MARKETS

21st Century Retro and Antique Sales

Held at the Croatian Cultural Centre (3250 Commercial Drive @ 16th) in Vancouver, these shows feature 175 tables of classic antiques mixed in with funky vintage finds. There is something to be found for everyone from seasoned collectors to everyday secondhand shopping enthusiasts. Gale Pirie is also on site for all shows offering appraisals. Next antique show is scheduled for February 12, 2012.

Kerrisdale Antique Show

Every spring, and now also in September, this antique show is held at the Kerrisdale Arena (5670 East Boulevard at 41st Ave) in Vancouver. This show features 60 specialty vendors with over 250 tables of 18th, 19th and 20th century antiques and vintage collectibles. heck their Web site for more information. Admission is $7.

17th Annual Antique and Collectible Show at Queen’s Park Arena

Presented by the Fraser Valley Antique and Collectible Club, this annual show will feature over 200 tables with a fine selection of collectibles, toys, postcards, Coco Cola, Signs, Tins, Bottles, Railroad, China, General Store Items, and so much more. The next  show will be held at Queen’s Park Arena in New Westminster in the spring of 2012. Tsawwassen Sun Festival 31st Annual Antique Fair (604) 889-4484

27th Annual New Westminster Hyack Antique Fair (604) 522-6894

This antique fair is just one of many fun events occurring onsite during the Hyack Festival during Victoria Day weekend. Held at the Queens Park Arenex in New Westminster (one-half mile north of Pattulo Bridge) this show will feature fine antiques and collectibles.

Vancouver Antiquarian Book Fair (604) 879-3234

Held at the Vancouver Public Library (350 West Georgia), this show will feature over 75 tables with dealers from across Canada showcasing everything from Americana to art books to ephemera. Next show TBA.

Burnaby Lake Antiques Fair

Held annually at the end of the summer, this two day event features 60 vendors from across B.C., Alberta and even Quebec. It is considered by many to be one of the best antique shows on the West Coast and has become a much-anticipated mecca for seasoned and novice collectors, designers and antiques enthusiasts alike. **Please note no show in 2010.

Antique Expo at Tradex

Held in Abbotsford at the Tradex, this show will feature more than 250 tables with vendors from across Canada. The next show is set for November 5, 6, 2011. Admission is $8 with children 13 and under getting in free when accompanied by an adult. There will also be an antiques identification clinic held on site, $12 per item. West Coast Collectors (250) 752-7118

Considered one of Vancouver Island’s best antique shows and held at the Beban Park Social Centre in Nanaimo. Here you can find bottles, stonewear, breweriana, calendars, signs, advertising, postcards and so much more. Call them for upcoming show dates.

Victoria’s Ultimate Hobby and Toy Fair

Held on Vancouver Island, this show features collectible toys, dolls, Barbies, comics, vinyl records, trains, diecast cars, video games and so much more. Shows are held at the Pearkes Rec Centre (3100 Tilicum Road) in Victoria from 9am to 3pm. Admission is $3 with kids getting in for free. There is also an early bird admission from 8amto 9am for $10. Victoria Toy Show

Seen as one of the biggest toy shows in Western Canada, this show is held at the Mary Winspear Centre (2243 Beacon Ave) in Sidney BC. Here you will find antique and collectible toys, dolls, tin toys, Dinky toys, robots, planes, trains, games books Barbies, Beanies and so much more. Check their Web site for more details.

Victoria Book and Paper Show

This show features antique and collectible printed items that includes postage stamps, maps, comics, books, brochures, advertising, sport cards, post cards, magazines, paper money, and so much more. General admission is $3 but early admission is available at 8:30am for $20. Check their Web site for upcoming show dates.

23rd Annual Dogwood Show and Sale

This Vancouver Island show which features antiques and collectibles is held at the Fuller Lake Arena on the Island Highway in Chemainus, B.C. Admission is $5, with children under 16 getting in free. There is also ample free parking on site and a concession. Check their Web site for upcoming show dates.

ARTISAN AND CRAFT MARKETS

Portobello Markets West

Portobello West brings together Vancouver’s talented artists and designers in an eclectic and often surprising mix 10 months of the year. Held at the Rocky Mountaineer Station in Vancouver, this fashion and art market runs from March to December. Check their Web site for  upcoming show details.

Eastside Culture Crawl

One of Vancouver’s most unique shows highlighting artists and artisans from a variety of disciplines. This three day show is held in studios and warehouses located throughout the East Side of Vancouver. Includes work by emerging artists as well as those of International fame. Artists in Our Midst

Celebrating 19 years in the community, Artists in Our Midst showcases local artists in Vancouver. For more information and next year’s dates, check out their Web site.

One of a Kind Show

This showcase features gifts and handmade objects from more than 200 contemporary creators, designers and artists. Here you can find everything from homemade fudge to designer clothing and accessories.

Circle Craft Christmas Show

Christmas at Hycroft

Held once a year, this annual Christmas fundraiser features an Artisan’s Village, Charity Boutiques, Children’s Centre, Christmas Shoppe, Culinary Creations, Entertainment, a Silent Auction, and much more. Check their Web site for more details and upcoming show dates.

Dunbar Community Centre  Holiday Craft Fair

With over 140 local vendors, the juried craft fair is one of the best in the city featuring handmade crafts ranging from jewelry to woodwork. Admission is $3.00, children under 12 are free. Childminding, refreshments, and free children’s crafts will be available.
